David Nelson is a fourth-generation Idahoan who grew up on a Genesee wheat ranch. A graduate of the University of Idaho, Nelson left Idaho to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry writing software that helps companies manage their energy more efficiently. In the last 10 years, he has worked as a Democratic County and Legislative district chair, recruiting candidates and coordinating the party’s operations. He helped recruit and elect Senator Dan Schmidt, Representative Paulette Jordan, Latah County Commission Tom Lamar, and Latah County Clerk Henrianne Westberg. David lives in Moscow with his wife Nancy Nelson. They have two daughters who graduated from Moscow High School. His favorite recreation is rafting Idaho’s rivers.
