Diesel prices in Idaho have hit the highest level ever recorded, reaching nearly $6 a gallon statewide, up more than $2 from $3.82 a year ago. It is the latest hit for Idaho drivers, who just faced the most expensive Labor Day weekend in state history.
While Republicans gather in Dallas to fawn over Trump, Idaho families are stuck paying for his reckless agenda. Since Trump took office, the average Idaho household has had to spend $3,300 more on everyday essentials like gas, groceries, and housing.
In response, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released the following statement:
“Idaho Republicans had a busy week in Washington, just not working for Idahoans. Three votes made that painfully clear. Crapo and Risch voted to keep Trump’s political slush fund alive. Then they voted against blocking public money for his ballroom. Simpson and Fulcher voted to give Trump a blank check for his reckless war of choice in Iran. Idahoans should be furious. Families are paying more for the basics while their Republican delegation defends corruption, vanity projects, and reckless power grabs. Idaho deserves leaders with the backbone to say no to Trump and yes to the people they were elected to serve.”
Trump’s approval has cratered right along with Idahoans’ wallets. His net approval in Idaho fell from +36 to just +4 by Labor Day, a 32-point drop and one of the steepest collapses of any state in the nation. Fifty-four days out from Election Day, a majority of voters report they are financially worse off since Trump returned to office, including nearly one in four Republicans.
Meanwhile, Idaho Democrats are on offense, registering new voters and hitting the trail, knocking on more than 90,000 doors and making 100,000 phone calls this year to talk with voters about the issues that matter most to them: lowering costs, fixing healthcare, and making life affordable.
