This week, Idaho Republicans in Congress had three chances to stand up for taxpayers, families, and the Constitution.

They struck out.

Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch voted against stopping Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion political slush fund. They also voted against blocking taxpayer dollars from funding Trump’s White House ballroom.

In the House, Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher voted against reining in Trump’s war powers after he escalated conflict with Iran without clear congressional authorization.

In response, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea issued the following statement:

“Idaho Republicans had a busy week in Washington, just not working for Idahoans. Three votes made that painfully clear. Crapo and Risch voted to keep Trump’s political slush fund alive. Then they voted against blocking public money for his ballroom. Simpson and Fulcher voted to give Trump a blank check for his reckless war of choice in Iran. Idahoans should be furious. Families are paying more for the basics while their Republican delegation defends corruption, vanity projects, and reckless power grabs. Idaho deserves leaders with the backbone to say no to Trump and yes to the people they were elected to serve.”
