Teton County Democrats: Board of County Commissioners’ Meeting – Town Hall
March 13 @ 6:00 pm MDT
The two new County Commissioners would like to disband the County’s Wildlife Advisory Committee (WAC) and require everyone to reapply. The WAC is intended to be a group that provides advice to the commissioners on wildlife and as such should be comprised of wildlife experts. The committee is advisory that means they provide advise to the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) and the BoCC decides how to use that advice.
The current board was established by the previous BoCC who sought experts to provide the best available information and science and help protect wildlife, their habitats, and ecosystem. The new commissioners have suggested that the committee should be more diverse proposing that developers might need to be included. There are a couple of open positions available on the WAC that do need to be filled. But disbandment and requiring the WAC volunteers to reapply, is a slap in their face and all the good work they have done.
Please attend the Town Hall and share your support for the WAC and wildlife in our valley by voicing your appreciation for the committee and all the good work they have done. You will be able to provide up to five minutes of testimony. But even a short statement is helpful. Looking forward to seeing you there.
If you can’t attend in person, you can also participate via Zoom the following link BoCC Town Hall. You can also send comments directly to the Commissioners through email to commissioners@tetoncountyidaho.gov.
