On the third anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released the following statement:
“Three years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court ripped away our reproductive freedoms. In Idaho, this set loose a long-running scheme by Republican politicians: one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country, with no exception to protect the health or future fertility of women, even in medical emergencies. Our state has been paying the price ever since. Women are being airlifted out of state for care. Doctors and nurses are choosing not to practice here, including more than half of our maternal and fetal medicine specialists. Over half of Idaho’s counties no longer offer maternity care. Still, the Idaho Republican Party bosses are not satisfied. Their official platform demands zero exceptions to the abortion ban, not even if a woman faces certain death. Idahoans deserve leaders who safeguard our freedom to make our most personal healthcare decisions. This fight isn’t over, and Idaho Democrats will not back down.”
