In response to House Republicans passing Trump’s disastrous budget bill, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released the following statement:
“At a time when working Idaho families are already struggling to get by, Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher just voted to make their lives even harder. On the Trump regime’s orders, they backed a budget that rips away health care, slashes food assistance, and hands billions in tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, while regular Idahoans foot the bill. They voted for the biggest cut to Medicaid in American history, while also slashing Medicare. And they broke from 50 years of bipartisan support for the food assistance that ensures kids don’t go hungry. While the damage to Idaho families couldn’t be clearer, Brad Little chose to betray them. After publicly asking Republicans in Congress to back off cuts that hurt Idahoans, Little flipped days later, signing a letter endorsing the very same budget so he could curry favor with the Trump regime. That’s not leadership. That’s selling out the people of Idaho to protect billionaires and personal political ambition. Idahoans deserve leaders who fight for them, not sheep. Idaho Democrats are standing up to this attack on working families, and we will make sure voters know who’s responsible when they head to the ballot box.”
