Over the weekend, Idaho teachers took the extraordinary step of issuing a vote of no-confidence in Governor Brad Little. In response, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released the following statement:

“No one fights harder for Idaho kids and public schools than our teachers. They speak up for students, even when that means standing up to powerful interests. In a state that ranks last in the nation for investment in education, their voice matters. That is why Republican legislators tried to muzzle them with a union-busting bill, and Brad Little signed it. Now, teachers have made it clear they will not be bullied into silence. This no-confidence vote is a historic rebuke to a governor who talks like a friend of public education but sided with politicians attacking the educators who hold our schools together. Idahoans should see this for what it is: an attack on teachers, an attack on working people, and an attack on the right to stand up for your kids and your community. In November, voters will have a chance to answer.”
