Today, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released never-before-seen emails between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell in which Epstein wrote that Donald Trump — the “dog that hasn’t barked” — “spent hours at my house” with one of Epstein’s victims and “of course,” “knew about the girls.” The newly released emails suggest Trump was lying when he denied knowing about Epstein’s heinous crimes and told Americans that he “had no idea.”
In response, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released the following statement:
“The evidence is undeniable.”Donald Trump knew his close friend Jeffrey Epstein was a predator and spent hours at Epstein’s house with one of his victims. Instead of reporting the trafficking of young girls and working to put an end to it, Trump did nothing. How many more victims did Epstein abuse because of Trump’s silence? Why did he lie to the American people and pretend he knew nothing? What else is he hiding? Now his allies are doing the same. Speaker Mike Johnson blocked Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva from being sworn in for fifty days because she promised to cast the deciding vote to release the Epstein Files. During that time, Idaho’s Republican delegation stayed silent, choosing loyalty to Trump over justice for survivors. Our children are not safe in a country where leaders value power more than protecting kids. Idaho Democrats will keep fighting for truth and justice, no matter who stands in the way.”
Trump’s White House and his loyalists in Congress have done nothing but try to deceive the American people and deny justice, accountability, and transparency to the victims of Epstein’s crimes. That includes Speaker Mike Johnson refusing for 50 DAYS to swear in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva, who promised to be the tie-breaking vote to release the Epstein Files. Johnson has FINALLY agreed to swear in Grijalva today.
The news today comes after new reporting that Ghislaine Maxwell has received star treatment in prison after the Trump administration transferred her to a better facility and that she is preparing to ask Trump for a commutation of her sentence.
