Last night, voters in states across the country — including in the race for New Jersey and Virginia governor — issued a resounding referendum on Donald Trump and Republicans for selling out everyday Americans in order to rig the system for billionaires. Democrats swept races up and down the ballot by running candidates focused on addressing affordability and kitchen table issues. Democrats are entering the midterms with strong momentum.

In response, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea issued the following statement:

“Throughout Idaho and across the country, voters stood up and sent a clear message: they are done with politics that serve the wealthy and well-connected while working families struggle. This election was a clear rejection of Donald Trump and the Republicans who have followed him off a cliff. Americans chose leaders who fight for families, not billionaires. They are rejecting division and extremism in favor of real solutions that make life better for everyone. That same energy is building here in Idaho. Families are tired of being ignored while the Republican supermajority drives our state into deficit to fund private school vouchers and handouts for the wealthy. Idahoans want leaders who will fight for affordable living, strong public schools, and the freedom to make their own decisions. Idaho Democrats are ready to deliver that vision, and we’re ready to fight for it. We’re building momentum and taking back this state for the people who make it work.”
