Idaho has an upside down tax code

Together, we can change that

REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS

CATER TO THE TOP 1%

  • Pushed through huge tax cuts averaging $15,000 a year for those in the top 1% and giving out a meager $27 for workers facing lower wages, like childcare providers*

  • Blocked efforts to repeal the sales tax on groceries so that Idahoans now pay a higher tax rate when they buy food than corporations pay on their profits

  • Capped the homeowners’ property tax exemption, shifting the tax load onto residents while reducing property taxes for commercial real estate

DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATORS

WORK TO BOOST WORKING FAMILIES AND GROW THE MIDDLE CLASS

  • Supported repealing the sales tax on food

  • Proposed legislation to increase the child tax credit but were blocked by the Republican supermajority

  • Proposed legislation to increase the homeowners’ property tax exemption but were denied a hearing by Republican leadership
