JOB OPENING: Field Fellow, Idaho Young Democrats

The Idaho Young Democrats are looking for students and young people interested in Idaho Democratic Politics for the Idaho Democratic Party’s coordinated Get Out The Vote campaign (GOTV)!

The ideal candidate will be committed to affecting change in red states, has interest in performing duties of a field program, is goal-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in using multiple strategies to encourage voters to vote. No prior campaign or field experience is required to apply. The field fellowship position is designed to teach young Democrats campaign skills that are transferable to future elections.

The field fellow will work part-time, over the course of 8 weeks, beginning in September and lasting until the November 3rd election. Field fellows will be paid twice per month over two months.

The field fellow is responsible for assisting field organizers in implementing their strategy in several targeted districts across the state. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Help to implement a field plan in targeted districts
Manage, recruit, and retain volunteers by ensuring their environment is welcoming and their expectations are met
Place phone calls into targeted districts
Collect political information to better understand targeted districts
Assist in the Get Out The Vote campaign (GOTV)
Build and maintain strong relationships with supportive Democrats, progressive organizations, and community leaders
Must attend bi-weekly Executive Board meetings (or be excused)

Ability to complete assigned tasks in a specified timeframe
Willingness to learn new skills and ask for help to gain understanding
High levels of organization and task management
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to speak with voters across the political spectrum

Expected Outcomes
The field fellow program is designed to teach the fundamentals of political field work. In this program you will learn:
A basic understanding of voter databases
Skills to execute a field strategy to increase voter turnout
Methods to effectively recruit, manage, and train campaign volunteers
How to work alongside campaign staff to brainstorm ideas, execute plans, and meet organizational goals
Political experience that can be used in future positions
How to develop relationships with Idaho Democrats across the state and utilize those relationships to achieve goals

This position is 15-20 hours per week with a monthly stipend of $1000 on a contractor basis.
