Fosbury: Gold Medal Dem Leads Hailey’s 4th of July Parade

Olympic Gold Medalist and Idaho Democratic candidate for a District 26 House seat Dick Fosbury will be grand marshal of the Hailey 4th of July Parade.

Blaine County Dems are hosting the extremely popular ice cream social immediately following the parade.

The parade, themed “Wood River Valley Inspires” starts at Noon on July 4th and goes until 1:30 p.m. Then wander along Main Street, look for a throng of people. They’ll be lined up for the free ice cream! at the social. Blaine County Dems are the hosts and are manning the scoops!

As for Fosbury, he’s a local hero because he changed the sport of high jumping, forever, when he was the first athlete to win jumping over the bar back-first: the legendary move became known to track & field athletes around the globe as the “Fosbury Flop.” For an example, check out this cool car commercial which features Fosbury jumping.

Fosbury has also been a leader in the community as a member of the county planning and zoning commission. He is well-known for volunteering his time with young Idaho athletes and is vice president of the U.S. Olympics and Paralympic Association. He founded a civil engineering firm and remained it’s president until retiring in 2011. You need to visit Fosbury’s website yourself and see what a great leader he will be for Idaho.

Fosbury is running against Rep. Steve Miller of Fairfield, a Republican who is not known for accomplishing anything during his two-year stint in the Legislature.

Fosbury’s fellow Idaho Dem candidates include Sen. Michelle Stennett and Rep. Donna Pence.
