Interview with Jimmy Farris Oct. Newsletter

Congressional candidate Jimmy Farris

Sally- What is your earliest memory of politics in your household?

Jimmy– My earliest memory of being interested in politics was watching the Bush/Dukakis election in 1988. I remember sitting around the TV with my family watching the results come in.

Sally– Who were your role models growing up?

Jimmy– Although I grew up idolizing athletes, my parents were always my true role models. Many of the values I incorporate into my daily life are ones that I learned from my parents while growing up.

Sally– Who are they today?

Jimmy– Today my role models are teachers, educators and those who protect our rights and freedoms on a daily basis.

Sally– What one piece of advice do you have for young people today?

Jimmy– My one piece of advice is to dream big and never allow anyone to talk you out of pursing those dreams.

Sally– We are all going to be recording “ I am a Democrat because…” 30 sec. statements at our State Central Committee. Why are you a Democrat?

Jimmy– I’m a Democrat because, over the years, my values and beliefs more closely align with Democratic values. I believe we are all better off when we support each other and lend a hand to those in need. I believe in supporting education and workers.  I believe we are the strongest when we have a strong, prospering middle class. I believe we should keep our promises to seniors. I believe in moving forward and looking to the future.

Sally– What do you love most about Idaho?

Jimmy– The people and the scenery.  Idaho is home to some of the most honest, hardworking people.  It’s also home to the most beautiful lakes, rivers, trees and mountains anywhere in country.

Sally– What specific values do you feel growing up in Idaho instilled in you?

Jimmy– Honesty, hard work, commitment and excellence. The people of Idaho possess and represent the best of these qualities and ideals.

Sally– What other hobbies do you have besides football?

Jimmy– I love to exercise, spend time on the lake (boating, fishing, skiing), read and watch movies.

Sally– Do you have a special place in Idaho that you like to visit regularly?

Jimmy– McCall is one of my favorite places to visit in Idaho.  My family spends a week on the lake every summer.  It’s truly a highlight of my year.  I also love to visit Coeur D’Alene, it’s one of those iconic Idaho towns.

Sally– What are you looking forward to most in your run for Congress?

Jimmy– What I’m most looking forward to is traveling the district and meeting with the people of Idaho and having serious conversations about what I can do as a Representative to make their lives better.  I want to know where they see the need for change and what issues are truly important to them.

Sally– Do you have a timeline for your campaign lined out yet?

Jimmy– At this point, we are in the process of fundraising and assembling the team that will ultimately put our long term campaign strategy in place.

Sally– How can people go about contacting you if they would like you to attend one of their events?
