Fall State Central Committee Meeting

Over 120 people from around the state attended this weekend’s Fall State Central Committee meeting in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Folks gathered together Friday evening for pre-registration and to start a Veterans Caucus. Rex Sermon was elected to chair the Veterans Caucus. If you know of any interested veterans please have them contact Rex Sermon at info@datarexinc.com.

Saturday morning started with our different Central Committee groups breaking out to discuss business particular to their leadership group and then led into our State Central Committee General Session. Reports were given from our Executive Officers: Larry Grant, Susan Eastlake, Jeanne Buell, Pete Gertonson, Carolyn Boyce, Dean Lent, and Shelley Landry.

Our Operations plan was presented and State Central Committee members were given until November 13th to comment on changes they would like to see made in the plan.

Two bylaw amendments were discussed and tabled until the Frank Church Banquet.

The State Central Committee voted to keep our primary elections open to all political parties and unaffiliated voters.

Representative Ellie Boldman Hill gave an inspirational key note speech on what it means to be a Western Democrat at the first annual Senator Clint Stennett Luncheon. Congressional Candidate in CD1, Jimmy Farris, also spoke.

Trainings on Messaging your Values, VoteBuilder, The Dream Act, and Crafting a Press Release were heavily attended.

Blaine County Democrats hosted a wonderful pizza party at a local Bar and Grille in downtown Ketchum.

Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus hosted a breakfast Sunday morning breakfast where President of the Idaho Young Democrats, Dean Lent, talked about his vision for the youth vote in Idaho. He then turned the floor over to Congressional Candidate, Jimmy Farris, who talked about the importance of women in the world and in politics.
