It is time for the Idaho Legislature to put a halt to Supt. Tom Luna’s education reform package and let parents and educators decide if reform truly benefits Idaho children—not just deep-pocket, campaign contributors.
“Idaho’s children are not for sale,” said Idaho Democratic Party Interim Executive Director Shelley Landry. “Education reform of this magnitude must be free from the slightest scent of scandal. Too much is at stake for education stakeholders to wonder if reform was made for the sake of children or for the sake of politics and profit.”
Recent articles cast doubt on the legitimacy of Luna’s reform proposal, which was crafted behind closed doors and without input from Idaho educators and parents.

Indeed, Luna’s rush to replace 770 teachers with laptops stands to benefit many of his campaign donors to the tune of millions.
Idahoans were already asking for more time to study the proposal. With the Luna proposal linked to profiteering, it is even more important that Idahoans have the time they need to be sure that scarce public school funding won’t be squandered on cronyism and scandal.
